Silica-Based Thickening Additive for Epoxy

Thick-Sil 90 is a fumed silica-based thickening additive designed to modify 100% solids epoxy systems into a high-viscosity, moldable repair material. When mixed into epoxy,Thick-Sil 90 creates a consistency suitable for shaping and application with a putty knife, making it ideal for filling joints, cracks, and minor concrete repairs.

The resulting material can be sanded to a smooth finish after full cure and can be covered with an epoxy coating after approximately 20–30 minutes.

Best used to increase the viscosity of 100% solids epoxy systems for joint, crack, and minor concrete repair applications. Thick Sil 90 is gradually blended into mixed epoxy until the desired moldable consistency is achieved. The thickened epoxy can then be shaped and applied with a putty knife. After full cure, the repaired area can be sanded smooth or covered with an epoxy coating.

Instructions:

• Mix the two-component 100% solids epoxy, Part A and Part B, according to the epoxy product label instructions.
• Once the epoxy components are combined, gradually add THICK SIL 90 to the mixed epoxy at a 3:1 ratio by volume. Add THICK SIL 90 in small amounts while continuously mixing until the material reaches a consistency suitable for shaping.
• Thoroughly blend using a small helix mixer and drill for optimal blending.
